The Brazilian Internal Revenue Service (Receita Federal – RFB) has announced a significant expansion of the e-Financeira, requiring credit card administrators and payment institutions to report financial information.
This new regulation includes entities that were previously not subject to such data reporting obligations.
Until now, the submission of information through e-Financeira was limited to traditional financial institutions. With the update brought by IN No. 2.219/2024, the RFB aims to increase data collection, covering a broader range of financial transactions, which should enhance oversight and control over these operations.
In addition to the obligation to submit information and the new file transmission format, taxpayers should pay attention to:
1. Obligation to Provide Information: Entities must report the total amount transacted monthly by type of financial operation if it exceeds R$ 5,000.00 for individuals and R$ 15,000.00 for legal entities.
2. Incorporation of Data from Decred: e-Financeira will now include information previously collected by Decred, which will be discontinued starting in January 2025.
By including credit card administrators and payment institutions in the e-Financeira, the RFB not only broadens its control scope but also seeks to deter tax evasion practices, ensuring that all market players operate more responsibly and in accordance with legal requirements.
